The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Elder de Moraes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gualter do Valle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardinho Meira in the 6th minute of play. After 9 played minutes Barcetona got a freekick which was hit by Mário Bastos. When Barcetona's Bernardinho Meira in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 41st minute Bebeto Tande shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldir Freitas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rômulo Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir Freitas having to interfere. Rômulo Gomes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Waldir Freitas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

After 51 played minutes Imperadores FC got a freekick which was hit by Rodriguinho Machado. After having played for 55 minutes, Rômulo Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Imperadores FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rômulo Gomes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bebeto Tande took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Waldir Freitas. Waldir Freitas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Barcetona's Elder de Moraes got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Imperadores FC's Gualter do Valle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardinho Meira in the 65th minute of play. After 69 played minutes Imperadores FC got a freekick which was hit by Hernani Corrêa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardinho Meira in the 71st minute of play forced Imperadores FC's goalkeeper Gualter do Valle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonardo Couto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Waldir Freitas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bebeto Tande in the 77th minute of the match. 78 minutes into the match, Imperadores FC's Bebeto Tande sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Waldir Freitas narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
