But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jean Cardoso couldn't finish the play. After 22 minutes, Alessandro Vergílio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rivers and the Londrina Esporte Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. Falcão Fonseca came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Londrina Esporte Clube's Leonardo Neto. But to his dismay, Leonardo Neto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Genílson de Amorim during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Genílson de Amorim hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Cláudio de Barros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Miguel Tepedino made a huge save. In the 33rd minute, Jean Cardoso reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Miguel Tepedino. The goal made the score 1-1. In the 36th minute, Serafim Alagoano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Genílson de Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Serafim Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Falcão Fonseca having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Genílson de Amorim hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Genílson de Amorim managed to get in a good position for a shot. Londrina Esporte Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Genílson de Amorim was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Falcão Fonseca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Leonardo Neto came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Londrina Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leonardo Neto couldn't finish the play. 89 minutes into the match, Rivers's goal looked a bit too open when Leonardo Neto came free, but Falcão Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Miguel Tepedino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cláudio de Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
