A collision led to Mocidade getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Almir Esteves hit a great ball. Mocidade's Diego Tande proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Mocidade from getting a goal against them. Cristóvão Ribeiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Danilo Salles went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danilo Salles in the 11th minute of play forced Cherente's goalkeeper Cristóvão Ribeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Cherente getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Vladimir Vieira hit a great ball. In the 16th minute, Gilvan Vides ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cristóvão Ribeiro was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Almir Esteves hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Danilo Salles struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Cristóvão Ribeiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mocidade. Mocidade's Diego Tande proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Mocidade from getting a goal against them. Danilo Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristóvão Ribeiro having to interfere. The Mocidade fans' excitement grew in the 36th match minute when Mocidade's Gilvan Vides looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Cristóvão Ribeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilvan Vides, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilvan Vides in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cristóvão Ribeiro saved Cherente from getting behind. Cristóvão Ribeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Glauco Arruda in the 45th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Cherente defense, Glauco Arruda kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cristóvão Ribeiro. The Cherente fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cristóvão Ribeiro should have stopped the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edu Amorim made a kick off. Cristóvão Ribeiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gilvan Vides's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Gilvan Vides put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Cristóvão Ribeiro. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Danilo Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mocidade's supporters rose to their feet, but Danilo Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristóvão Ribeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 62 minutes, Glauco Arruda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mocidade and the Cherente players grew even worse after the yellow card. Danilo Salles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Cristóvão Ribeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 74 played minutes Mocidade got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Eduardo Pinheiro. Diego Tande showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Cearense, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vladimir Vieira in the 79th minute of play forced Mocidade's goalkeeper Diego Tande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristóvão Ribeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrinho de Godoi in the 81st minute of play. With 83 minutes on the clock, Luiz Eduardo Pinheiro commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 82nd minute, one of Mocidade:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mocidade. Diego Tande had in the 85thth minute some difficulties stopping Lino Braga's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 88 minutes into the match, Mocidade's goal looked a bit too open when Vladimir Vieira came free, but Diego Tande reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 94th minute, Danilo Salles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Almir Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Mocidade left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Cherente.
