Murillo Peres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Goiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Joaquim Penha struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Gabriel Galvão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Benfica. If Bruno Goiano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilvan Santana kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ian Prata made a kick off. If Ian Prata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joaquim Penha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 69th minute, Benfica's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Bruno Goiano fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Gabriel Galvão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian Prata in the 89th minute of the match.
