The referee ignored Tupiniquins's protests and gave Claudinei Monteiro a yellow card for diving instead. When Vitinho Bastos came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Expressinho Tricolor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vitinho Bastos couldn't finish the play. Vivaldo Tinoco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Acácio Pontes in the 13th minute of the match. Acácio Pontes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cauã Tepedino charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cauã Tepedino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cauã Tepedino hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Acácio Pontes in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vivaldo Tinoco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Expressinho Tricolor's zone, Teodoro Teles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ulisses Veloso came out of the goal and Teodoro Teles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tupiniquins's goalkeeper Vivaldo Tinoco, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Teodoro Teles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Ulisses Veloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Expressinho Tricolor's Edgar Diniz got a free kick in the 54th minute. Wilton Paulista's late challenge caught a Expressinho Tricolor's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wilton Paulista helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Tupiniquins getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Wilton Paulista hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Tupiniquins's zone, Kiko Terra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vivaldo Tinoco came out of the goal and Kiko Terra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 63 minutes, Joélson Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tupiniquins's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joélson Souza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 65 minutes into the match, Expressinho Tricolor's goal looked a bit too open when Teodoro Teles came free, but Ulisses Veloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Acácio Pontes succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-2 in the 70th playminute. Teodoro Teles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th match minute, Expressinho Tricolor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rômulo Bueno to maneuver through the defense. Ulisses Veloso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joélson Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 79 minutes, Teodoro Teles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tupiniquins's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teodoro Teles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. During the 87th minute of the match Cauã Tepedino completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Cauã Tepedino a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game.
