Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gil Ramalho, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Gil Ramalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mathias da Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

If Mathias da Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raí Quadros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Nico Salgado fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gil Ramalho showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
