The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rafa de Salles during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 20th minute, one of Taquaril FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Taquaril FC. Gualter Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gualter Gonçalves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Eduardo de Queiroz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 35thth minute of the game Wesley Maia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but S. E. Roca's Gerson Terra was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 36 minutes, Luís Gustavo Silveira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the S. E. Roca and the Taquaril FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Benedito Prado struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Gerson Terra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Taquaril FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wesley Maia in the 39th minute of play forced S. E. Roca's goalkeeper Gerson Terra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. S. E. Roca's Gerson Terra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedito Prado in the 40th minute of play. S. E. Roca's Gualter Gonçalves got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Benedito Prado made a kick off. S. E. Roca's Gualter Gonçalves got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee ignored Taquaril FC's protests and gave Pedro Luís Lira a yellow card for diving instead. After 72 played minutes Taquaril FC got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Luís Lira. S. E. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wesley Maia couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Benedito Prado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gerson Terra was relentless in the 90th minute of the game.
