Bruno Tinoco charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bruno Tinoco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauro Lopez in the 4th minute of play forced Potiguara SS's goalkeeper Breno Ribeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Potiguara SS's Bruno Tinoco got a free kick in the 5th minute. Mauro Lopez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breno Ribeiro having to interfere. The supporters of Potiguara SS booed when Piratiny SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauro Lopez didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Dieguinho Pontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 14th match minute, Piratiny SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdo Nunes to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes into the match, Potiguara SS's Joélson Falcão broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juvenal Brasil in the 17th minute of play forced Potiguara SS's goalkeeper Breno Ribeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valdo Nunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breno Ribeiro having to interfere. If Dieguinho Pontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Piratiny SC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Geovânio Godoi hit a great ball. The Piratiny SC fans' excitement grew in the 34th match minute when Piratiny SC's Mauro Lopez looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Roberto Lago acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 40th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Carlos Fernando Senna. After having played for 44 minutes, Mauro Lopez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piratiny SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mauro Lopez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 46th minute, Juvenal Brasil left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Piratiny SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The Potiguara SS players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Piratiny SC were winning 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dieguinho Pontes was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Joélson Pires hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 53rd minute, André Luiz Loyola sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Potiguara SS's Breno Ribeiro didn't even have to move. 58 minutes into the match, Dieguinho Pontes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roberto Lago. Piratiny SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dieguinho Pontes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Breno Ribeiro made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Valdo Nunes sent off a good shot on target. In the 65th match minute, Piratiny SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guga Dias to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 66 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Dieguinho Pontes sped through Piratiny SC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Roberto Lago. Piratiny SC's Guga Dias suffered a sore thigh after 68 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Dieguinho Pontes's late challenge caught a Piratiny SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dieguinho Pontes helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Potiguara SS's Dieguinho Pontes got a free kick in the 69th minute. Potiguara SS's Breno Ribeiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Potiguara SS from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Mauro Lopez kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Breno Ribeiro. That made the score 2-3 in the 83 minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Wellington Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piratiny SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wellington Medeiros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Breno Ribeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Mauro Lopez came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Piratiny SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mauro Lopez couldn't finish the play. Breno Ribeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geovânio Godoi in the 91st minute of the match. In the 97th minute Dieguinho Pontes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roberto Lago saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Piratiny SC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
