With a little luck, Ajax FC's Yuri Neto got control of the ball when Rogério Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Yuri Neto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rogério Montenegro in the 23rd minute. The audience was convinced that Rogério Montenegro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Yuri Neto was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ediberto Neto in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Yuri Neto saved Ajax FC from getting behind. If Rogério Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute, Claudinei Viana ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luizinho Amaral was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ediberto Neto was the one to do the kick off. After 52 played minutes Galaticos got a freekick which was hit by João Augusto Monteiro. Ediberto Neto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yuri Neto having to interfere. If Ediberto Neto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 60 minutes into the match, Galaticos's Rogério Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Yuri Neto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Galaticos's Fausto Neto got a free kick in the 62nd minute. In the 65th minute, Alexandre Duarte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ajax FC's Yuri Neto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ediberto Neto in the 67th minute of play. Luizinho Amaral didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jailson Couto went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. In the 73rd minute, Ediberto Neto made a precise shot to the right of Yuri Neto. Ajax FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. Rogério Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ediberto Neto scored 4-4 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Yuri Neto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Yuri Neto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ediberto Neto in the 93rd minute of play. Galaticos's Ediberto Neto got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Yuri Neto came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by Galaticos's João Augusto Monteiro. But to his dismay, João Augusto Monteiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-4. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Galaticos had played much better football throughout.
