The Diecon EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The supporters of Caraiuva booed when Diecon EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Maria Palmeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd match minute, Diecon EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mário Siqueira to maneuver through the defense. Rui Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel de Salles having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rui Chaves in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Miguel de Salles prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 38 minutes into the game, José Maria Palmeira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Diecon EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Caraiuva the free kick. A collision led to Diecon EC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Diecon EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mário Siqueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Miguel de Salles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Caraiuva walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
