São Paulo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 13 minutes into the match, Mean Machine's goalkeeper Válbson Mandrak had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Duarte Fernandez. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mean Machine's goalkeeper Válbson Mandrak, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 21 minutes, Fernandão Proença managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mean Machine's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernandão Proença was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fernandão Proença struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Rubinho Terra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mean Machine. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Serafim Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mean Machine's supporters rose to their feet, but Serafim Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubinho Terra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hermínio Faria's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 29thth minute, Válbson Mandrak skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Duarte Fernandez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mean Machine's Válbson Mandrak proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Mean Machine from getting a goal against them. Serafim Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rubinho Terra having to interfere. Fernandão Proença's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rubinho Terra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fernandão Proença to strike the kick off in the second half. When Fernandão Proença came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Mean Machine fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernandão Proença couldn't finish the play. Rubinho Terra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernandão Proença in the 59th minute of the match. In the 63rd minute of the match São Paulo got a corner. Mean Machine's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luís Eduardo Maranhense ran over to the corner to take the kick. Válbson Mandrak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldo Rossi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute, Serafim Garcia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rubinho Terra was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Hernani de Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mean Machine's supporters rose to their feet, but Hernani de Mendonça was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubinho Terra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 85th minute, Serafim Garcia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 88 played minutes Mean Machine got a freekick which was hit by Hernani de Mendonça. Ronaldo Rossi struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Válbson Mandrak didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for São Paulo. Hermínio Faria's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Válbson Mandrak read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mean Machine walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
