Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Rui Chaves took the kick off in the first half of the match. Caraiuva's Rui Chaves got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rui Chaves might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ulysses Correia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rui Chaves ran back to his position shaking his head. Dida Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 20th minute, Acácio Hoffmann ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gerson Valadares was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Ulysses Correia made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Albertinho Terra sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Chaves in the 27th minute of play forced Gaucho's goalkeeper Ulysses Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Willian Gonçalves was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 29 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gaucho fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 28th minute. Penalty! Mário Brasil walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. After 36 played minutes Gaucho got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Augusto Moreira. Ulysses Correia made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Albertinho Terra sent off a good shot on target. Gaucho's Ulysses Correia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Gaucho from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Gaucho's Ulysses Correia got control of the ball when Albertinho Terra tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Acácio Hoffmann was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Albertinho Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caraiuva's supporters rose to their feet, but Albertinho Terra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulysses Correia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Albertinho Terra took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ulysses Correia. Ulysses Correia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Rui Chaves kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. After 63 played minutes Gaucho got a freekick which was hit by Amílton Fernandez. If Albertinho Terra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ulysses Correia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albertinho Terra in the 68th minute of play. 73 minutes into the match, Gaucho's goal looked a bit too open when Rui Chaves came free, but Ulysses Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute, Albertinho Terra left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caraiuva fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After 79 minutes, Pedro Augusto Moreira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gaucho and the Caraiuva players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 80th minute, Pedro Augusto Moreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Caraiuva's Albertinho Terra in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gaucho's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Gaucho's zone, Rui Chaves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ulysses Correia came out of the goal and Rui Chaves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 85th minute of the match Cristian Romero shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ulysses Correia showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Ulysses Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albertinho Terra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rui Chaves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Ulysses Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Caraiuva fans cheered their team off the field, for while Gaucho had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
