Spectators: 6660 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1660, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Rui Chaves kicked off to start the match. Rubinho Terra didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rui Chaves went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Albertinho Terra struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Rubinho Terra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caraiuva. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Albertinho Terra in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rubinho Terra prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 11 minutes of play, Caraiuva's Rui Chaves made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rubinho Terra was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of São Paulo booed when Caraiuva was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Chaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. São Paulo's Hermínio Faria got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Elder Figueiredo hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Rubinho Terra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Chaves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 29 minutes into the match, Caraiuva's goalkeeper Gerson Valadares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hermínio Faria. After having played for 33 minutes, Albertinho Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caraiuva's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albertinho Terra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Hermínio Faria came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the São Paulo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hermínio Faria couldn't finish the play. After 39 minutes, Ronaldo Rossi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the São Paulo and the Caraiuva players grew even worse after the yellow card. A nice corner shot did that Mário Brasil got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rubinho Terra quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Rubinho Terra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albertinho Terra in the 45th minute of play. 46 minutes into the game, Rui Chaves cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Rubinho Terra was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hermínio Faria was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Chaves in the 52nd minute of play forced São Paulo's goalkeeper Rubinho Terra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Hermínio Faria came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the São Paulo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hermínio Faria couldn't finish the play. Through an outstanding action, after 58 minutes, Rubinho Terra successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 59 minutes into the match, São Paulo's goalkeeper Rubinho Terra had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Albertinho Terra. 61 minutes into the match, Albertinho Terra notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of São Paulo's Rubinho Terra. Rubinho Terra was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hermínio Faria recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rui Chaves in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rubinho Terra saved São Paulo from getting behind. São Paulo's defense didn't have a chance, in the 84th minute, when Rui Chaves scored to the left of an out of position Rubinho Terra, making the score, 1-5. Rui Chaves was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 88th minute. Caraiuva's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. During the 92nd minute of the match Ronaldo Rossi completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Ronaldo Rossi a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, São Paulo's Ronaldo Rossi got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Mário Brasil took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 94th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rubinho Terra. São Paulo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Albertinho Terra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 97th minute, Rui Chaves reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rubinho Terra. The goal made the score 1-6. When the match was over Caraiuva could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than São Paulo throughout the match.
