The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Palmitinhos FC. 15 minutes into the match, Palmitinhos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dedé Maia came free, but Caio Cunha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Massuim AD booed when Palmitinhos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leandro Vinhas didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erivaldo Mesquita in the 17th minute of play forced Palmitinhos FC's goalkeeper Caio Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olívio Falcão stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chicão Passos's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Raimundo Tinoco struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Chicão Passos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Olívio Falcão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Kiko Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caio Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erivaldo Mesquita in the 30th minute of play. Cléberson Pombal's late challenge caught a Palmitinhos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cléberson Pombal helped the player get up and apologised. In the 33rd match minute, Massuim AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cléberson Pombal to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Massuim AD's Charles Pinheiro got a free kick in the 40th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Chicão Passos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the match, Palmitinhos FC's goalkeeper Caio Cunha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Erivaldo Mesquita. Massuim AD's Olívio Falcão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chicão Passos in the 62nd minute of play. Chicão Passos ran back to his position shaking his head. Palmitinhos FC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
