If Joel Meireles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th match minute, Caveira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luisinho Marques to maneuver through the defense. Denílson Veiga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dedé Munhoz in the 20th minute of play. Marcus de Sena who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Denílson Veiga when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Arcadia's zone, Norberto Penha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Osvaldinho Dantas came out of the goal and Norberto Penha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luís Paulo Donato hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute, Diguinho de Souza sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Arcadia's Osvaldinho Dantas didn't even have to move. 43 minutes into the match, Arcadia's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Meireles came free, but Osvaldinho Dantas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th minute Norberto Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvaldinho Dantas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when João Schmidt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Caveira's Egídio Quirino got a free kick in the 51st minute. Osvaldinho Dantas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Norberto Penha in the 57th minute. Denílson Veiga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Schmidt in the 61st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling João Schmidt in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Denílson Veiga prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 65th minute, Joel Meireles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Caveira's Joel Meireles got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Schmidt in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Denílson Veiga saved Caveira from getting behind. Thomás Albuquerque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Osvaldinho Dantas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
