Wanderson Koehler made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Thiago de Moraes sent off a good shot on target. With splendid footwork Cipriano Valle arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-0 by the left pole in the game's 17th minute. Cipriano Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Wanderson Koehler managed to avoid a goal in the 22ndth minute, when DC UNITED FC's Thiago de Moraes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Aírton Sabóia charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aírton Sabóia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 25th match minute, Grêmio Esportivo Brasil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aírton Sabóia to maneuver through the defense. Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's Wanderson Koehler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cipriano Valle in the 27th minute of play. 37 minutes in the game, Thiago de Moraes fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Wanderson Koehler having to interfere. If Cipriano Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cipriano Valle was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Valle in the 53rd minute of play forced Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's goalkeeper Wanderson Koehler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ramiro Ribeiro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 54th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Wanderson Koehler. Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. DC UNITED FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cipriano Valle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Thiago de Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Thiago de Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot. DC UNITED FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Thiago de Moraes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wanderson Koehler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wanderson Koehler stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cipriano Valle's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. Cipriano Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Wanderson Koehler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's José Augusto da Mata got a free kick in the 77th minute. 78 minutes into the match, DC UNITED FC's Ramiro Ribeiro broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 79thth minute of the game Cipriano Valle who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's Wanderson Koehler was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 80 minutes, Délio Braga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grêmio Esportivo Brasil and the DC UNITED FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Wanderson Koehler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thiago de Moraes in the 81st minute of the match. If Cristian Peixoto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Thiago de Moraes came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the DC UNITED FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thiago de Moraes couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd minute, Thiago de Moraes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Aírton Sabóia was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 97th minute. Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. DC UNITED FC had played much better football throughout.
