Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Cariry's Júlio Pena started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Agostinho Messias made an important save on a dangerous shot by Horácio Salgado in the 2nd minute. The Cariry fans' excitement grew in the 11th match minute when Cariry's Osvaldinho Medeiros looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Acácio Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agostinho Messias having to interfere. Cristóvão Quadros hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 23rd minute, Acácio Barros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Poncianos defense, Júlio Pena kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jano Cerezo. The Poncianos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jano Cerezo should have stopped the shot. Agostinho Messias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Horácio Salgado, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After 29 played minutes Cariry got a freekick which was hit by Cristóvão Quadros. Acácio Barros came free with the goalkeeper in the 35th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Agostinho Messias could save by the left post. Agostinho Messias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Horácio Salgado in the 36th minute of the match. Acácio Barros struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Agostinho Messias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Poncianos. If Horácio Salgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th match minute, Cariry was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Pena to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Horácio Salgado made a kick off. Acácio Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Agostinho Messias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Poncianos booed when Cariry was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chicão Hermes didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Horácio Salgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horácio Salgado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 63 minutes, Acácio Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Poncianos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Acácio Barros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Acácio Barros in the 78th minute of play forced Cariry's goalkeeper Agostinho Messias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dieguinho Jacinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
