With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romeu Guedes in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marco Velasco saved Sorocaba from getting behind. Marco Velasco made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Zé Paulo Severo sent off a good shot on target. Romeu Guedes did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Marco Velasco 28 minutes into the match. Cléberson Aguiar's late challenge caught a Lunáticos Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Romeu Guedes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52ndth minute of the game Romeu Guedes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sorocaba's Marco Velasco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Sorocaba's goalkeeper Marco Velasco, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marco Velasco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romeu Guedes in the 57th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Sorocaba's zone, Marcel Cordeiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vitório Loyola charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vitório Loyola the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Sorocaba booed when Lunáticos Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitório Loyola didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luís Gustavo Fantini during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
