After 11 played minutes Sorocaba got a freekick which was hit by Dida Araújo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doriva Matorin in the 13th minute of play forced Sorocaba's goalkeeper Marco Velasco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Tupitinga FC's Raúl Eger got control of the ball when Roberto Silva tried to sneak it across the goal line. Raúl Eger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dida Araújo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dida Araújo in the 18th minute of play forced Tupitinga FC's goalkeeper Raúl Eger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roberto Silva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Raúl Eger made a huge save. Dida Araújo was extremely unlucky when he, in the 32nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Roberto Silva who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 37thth minute tested the skills of Raúl Eger when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Tupitinga FC's zone, Roberto Silva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raúl Eger came out of the goal and Roberto Silva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Doriva Matorin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Velasco having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 50 played minutes Sorocaba got a freekick which was hit by Luís Gustavo Fantini. Franklin Secco struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Roberto Silva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Roberto Silva's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raúl Eger read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Dida Araújo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Raúl Eger. Tupitinga FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dida Araújo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Cléberson Aguiar's late challenge caught a Tupitinga FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cléberson Aguiar helped the player get up and apologised. In the 72nd minute, Cléberson Aguiar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 77 minutes into the game, Osvaldo Botelho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tupitinga FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sorocaba the free kick. After 77 played minutes Tupitinga FC got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldo Botelho. Marco Velasco made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Doriva Matorin sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 86 minutes, Dida Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sorocaba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dida Araújo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Doriva Matorin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tupitinga FC's Raúl Eger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roberto Silva in the 96th minute of play.
