Matuapira SS's Dida Madureira suffered a sore foot after 17 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 17 minutes into the game, Carlos Eduardo Quintal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sorocaba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Matuapira SS the free kick. Sílvio Lopes hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Matuapira SS's Carlos Eduardo Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dida Araújo in the 62nd minute of play. If Adrianinho Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matuapira SS were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
