In the 7thth minute of the game Joélson Branco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sorocaba's Marco Velasco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The corner led Jatei's Zé Carlos Freitas to fire away a dangerous shot which Marco Velasco despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Dida Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sorocaba's supporters rose to their feet, but Dida Araújo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aloísio Ortiz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Jatei's Luiz Fabiano Marquez got a free kick in the 11th minute. The audience was convinced that Dida Araújo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aloísio Ortiz was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Humberto Andrade took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 38th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Marco Velasco. Sorocaba's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Joélson Branco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Velasco having to interfere. After having played for 43 minutes, Joélson Branco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jatei's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joélson Branco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aloísio Ortiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dida Araújo in the 48th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 52nd match minute, Jatei was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Carlos Freitas to maneuver through the defense. Dida Araújo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64th match minute, Sorocaba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conrado de Andrade to maneuver through the defense. After 80 minutes of play, Sorocaba's Dida Araújo made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Aloísio Ortiz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Joélson Branco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marco Velasco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. When Roberto Silva came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Sorocaba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roberto Silva couldn't finish the play. Jatei's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
