An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Augusto Silva in the 11th minute of play forced Wagner AF's goalkeeper Hílton Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Luizão Garcia kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cristóvão Queirós. That made the score 1-0 in the 12 minute of play. João Adolfo Simão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristóvão Queirós having to interfere. Ismael Chaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zé Augusto Silva struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Hílton Leite didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C.R. Legião. In the 26th minute Ismael Chaves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristóvão Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th minute, João Adolfo Simão fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Tony Cruz kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Cristóvão Queirós made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when João Adolfo Simão sent off a good shot on target. Cristóvão Queirós made an important save on a dangerous shot by João Adolfo Simão in the 34th minute. 34 minutes into the game, Tony Cruz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C.R. Legião's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wagner AF the free kick. The supporters of Wagner AF booed when C.R. Legião was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tony Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wagner AF's Acácio Mello got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of C.R. Legião booed when Wagner AF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ismael Chaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st match minute, Wagner AF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luizão Garcia to maneuver through the defense. If João Adolfo Simão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristóvão Queirós made a fantastic save in the 48th minute, when João Adolfo Simão sent off a good shot on target. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Acácio Mello was the one to do the kick off. Ismael Chaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Ismael Chaves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wagner AF's supporters rose to their feet, but Ismael Chaves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristóvão Queirós breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 57th minute Chico Gerber shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristóvão Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ismael Chaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 59 minutes of play C.R. Legião's Tony Cruz was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 60 played minutes C.R. Legião got a freekick which was hit by Tony Cruz. João Adolfo Simão might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cristóvão Queirós. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. João Adolfo Simão ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 73rd match minute, Wagner AF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Acácio Mello to maneuver through the defense. Luizão Garcia struck a weak shot in the 74th minute.
