The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Geada SS's Miguel Pernambucano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edu Simões in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Geada SS's goalkeeper Miguel Pernambucano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 8 minutes into the match, Noturno FC's Edu Simões sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Miguel Pernambucano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 11th minute Evandro Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Augusto Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Evandro Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Geada SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Evandro Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Augusto Chaves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mané Esteves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Augusto Chaves having to interfere. When Mané Esteves came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Geada SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mané Esteves couldn't finish the play. Augusto Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evandro Godoi in the 23rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Noturno FC's zone, Mané Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Augusto Chaves came out of the goal and Mané Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 27 minutes, Frederico de Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Noturno FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frederico de Moraes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Evandro Godoi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Augusto Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute of the match, Mané Esteves got a very nice opportunity to score, but Augusto Chaves was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Augusto Chaves made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Mané Esteves sent off a good shot on target. Miguel Pernambucano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Edu Simões made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Noturno FC's goal looked a bit too open when Leandro Mendes came free, but Augusto Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frederico de Moraes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Miguel Pernambucano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 66 played minutes Geada SS got a freekick which was hit by Durval Leme.
