Conrado Reis showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Paulo José Batista was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Edgar Alves. After 40 played minutes Fama SC got a freekick which was hit by Fausto Zonta. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Fama SC's goalkeeper Paulo José Batista, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 45 minutes into the match, Fama SC's Wiliam Travassos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Claudinho Seco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Hamílton Lira fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
