In the 10th minute, Enio da Rocha sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Legião Futebol Clube's Alexandre Gonçalves didn't even have to move. With a little luck, Legião Futebol Clube's Alexandre Gonçalves got control of the ball when Alexandre Duarte tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 23 played minutes Legião Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Célio Marquez. Garibaldi RS's Enio da Rocha couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 35th minute. Legião Futebol Clube's Alexandre Gonçalves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Legião Futebol Clube from getting a goal against them. Chicão Recife came out of the goal and Flavinho Mandrak tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luís Gustavo Nogueira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Legião Futebol Clube booed when Garibaldi RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enio da Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Legião Futebol Clube's Marcelo Leme couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 56th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Garibaldi RS. 65 minutes into the game, Pedro Brodel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Garibaldi RS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Legião Futebol Clube the free kick. Flavinho Mandrak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chicão Recife having to interfere. After 75 played minutes Legião Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Aílton Capixaba. After 76 minutes, Edgar Vargas made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Legião Futebol Clube's Alexandre Gonçalves tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Garibaldi RS booed when Legião Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vágner Vergílio didn't get a good kick on the ball.
