He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Garibaldi RS reached it. After 11 played minutes Garibaldi RS got a freekick which was hit by Fellipe Sousa. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alexandre Duarte in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dieguinho Lopez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edgar Vargas might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dieguinho Lopez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edgar Vargas ran back to his position shaking his head. After 24 minutes, Matheus Faria mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Garibaldi RS and the Goiás Futebol Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sílvio Linares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Garibaldi RS's Enio da Rocha was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dieguinho Lopez in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 32nd minute, Edgar Vargas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dieguinho Lopez was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. When Edgar Vargas came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Garibaldi RS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgar Vargas couldn't finish the play. 38 minutes into the game, Garibaldi RS's Edgar Vargas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dieguinho Lopez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Dieguinho Lopez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandre Duarte, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sílvio Linares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sílvio Linares scored 2-3 in the 69th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Chicão Recife, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alexandre Duarte got free with Dieguinho Lopez in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 80th minute, Garibaldi RS's Alexandre Duarte dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-4. 84 minutes into the match, Luiz Fabiano Lucas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Chicão Recife. Garibaldi RS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz Fabiano Lucas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-4. Sílvio Linares struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Chicão Recife didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Goiás Futebol Clube. Dieguinho Lopez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alexandre Duarte in the 91st minute. Dieguinho Lopez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgar Vargas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alberto das Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Garibaldi RS left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Goiás Futebol Clube.
