In the 6thth minute of the game Delfim Ferreira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Goiás Futebol Clube's Dieguinho Lopez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luiz Paulo Brito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luiz Fabiano Lucas went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 14th minute, Jairo Falcão got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Luiz Fabiano Lucas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luiz Paulo Brito was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. Dieguinho Lopez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jairo Falcão in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sílvio Linares in the 31st minute of play forced Hard Rock's goalkeeper Luiz Paulo Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Paulo Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fabiano Lucas, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. A collision led to Hard Rock getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Arlindo Linares hit a great ball. 41 minutes into the match, Goiás Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Delfim Ferreira came free, but Dieguinho Lopez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jairo Falcão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dieguinho Lopez having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sílvio Linares to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Jairo Falcão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luiz Paulo Brito acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 53rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Délio Toledo. In the 58th minute of the match, Sílvio Linares tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Luiz Paulo Brito saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Luiz Fabiano Lucas came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Goiás Futebol Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Fabiano Lucas couldn't finish the play. Jairo Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Dieguinho Lopez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Goiás Futebol Clube's Dieguinho Lopez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Delfim Ferreira in the 71st minute of play. If Jairo Falcão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd match minute, Goiás Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adelino Cardoso to maneuver through the defense. Luiz Paulo Brito made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Luiz Fabiano Lucas sent off a good shot on target. Arlindo Linares struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Dieguinho Lopez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hard Rock. The crowd rose to their feet as Sílvio Linares kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Luiz Paulo Brito. That made the score 1-2 in the 96 minute of play.
