The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Fausto Zonta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 5 minutes into the match, Mecanibais's Manoel Lara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulo José Batista narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Paulo José Batista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manoel Lara, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 17th minute, Sandrinho Furlan made a precise shot to the right of Paulo José Batista. Fama SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 22 minutes into the match, Mecanibais's goal looked a bit too open when Wiliam Travassos came free, but Dário Britto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Wiliam Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Mecanibais's goalkeeper Dário Britto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dário Britto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wiliam Travassos in the 40th minute of play. Dário Britto came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Fama SC's Wiliam Travassos. But to his dismay, Wiliam Travassos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Mecanibais's defense didn't have a chance, in the 44th minute, when Wiliam Travassos scored to the left of an out of position Dário Britto, making the score, 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wiliam Travassos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Manoel Lara's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulo José Batista was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. Wiliam Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dário Britto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wiliam Travassos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wiliam Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Mecanibais's zone, Fausto Zonta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dário Britto came out of the goal and Fausto Zonta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Wiliam Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wiliam Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fausto Zonta struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Dário Britto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fama SC. When the referee ended the match the Fama SC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
