Celsinho do Vale took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 3rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for João Sergipano. Blumenkranz's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Juvenal Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Sergipano having to interfere. Piau AD's Juvenal Souza got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 16 played minutes Piau AD got a freekick which was hit by David Guedes. Piau AD's Anselmo de Godoi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Piau AD from getting a goal against them. 24 minutes into the match, Carlos Eduardo Penha notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Piau AD's Anselmo de Godoi. Anselmo de Godoi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 27 minutes into the match, Blumenkranz's goal looked a bit too open when Juvenal Souza came free, but João Sergipano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Dadá Mota came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Piau AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dadá Mota couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Blumenkranz getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Doni Amaral hit a great ball. João Sergipano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raúl de Toledo in the 31st minute of play. After 34 played minutes, Piau AD's Celsinho do Vale shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper João Sergipano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Piau AD reached it. Piau AD's Anselmo de Godoi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Piau AD from getting a goal against them. After having played for 40 minutes, Carlos Eduardo Penha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Blumenkranz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Eduardo Penha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A throw-in in the 42nd minute of the game was made by Acácio Leite with Dadá Mota as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Eduardo Penha made a kick off. In the 59th minute Juvenal Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Sergipano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Eduardo Penha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Doni Amaral charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Doni Amaral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 77th minute, Acácio Leite hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Acácio Leite made in the 83rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Dadá Mota. Anselmo de Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Eduardo Penha in the 84th minute of play. Carlos Eduardo Penha's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anselmo de Godoi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. Juvenal Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
