Cristiano Vieira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gangorrinha SC's Rubens Barral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fábio Magalhães in the 5th minute of play. A collision led to Funorte Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Júlio Bertassi hit a great ball. Luís Eduardo Trancoso came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by Gangorrinha SC's Cristiano Vieira. But to his dismay, Cristiano Vieira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After having played for 14 minutes, Jairo Peixoto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gangorrinha SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jairo Peixoto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Cristiano Vieira came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Gangorrinha SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristiano Vieira couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Funorte Esporte Clube's Júlio Bertassi got a free kick in the 19th minute. Gangorrinha SC's Cristiano Vieira got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Funorte Esporte Clube booed when Gangorrinha SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Vieira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Funorte Esporte Clube's Agnaldo Duarte got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 32ndth minute of the game Jairo Peixoto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Funorte Esporte Clube's Luís Eduardo Trancoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Cristiano Vieira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute, Jairo Peixoto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luís Eduardo Trancoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Cristiano Vieira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gangorrinha SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristiano Vieira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Eduardo Trancoso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luiz Fábio Magalhães received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Rubens Barral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jairo Peixoto to strike the kick off in the second half. Percy Rosado kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Rubens Barral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Fábio Magalhães in the 59th minute of the match. Funorte Esporte Clube's Luís Eduardo Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Peixoto in the 68th minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Funorte Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Jairo Peixoto came free, but Luís Eduardo Trancoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 77 minutes, Jairo Peixoto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gangorrinha SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jairo Peixoto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fábio Magalhães in the 88th minute of play forced Gangorrinha SC's goalkeeper Rubens Barral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristiano Vieira might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Eduardo Trancoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristiano Vieira ran back to his position shaking his head. Júlio Bertassi kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. 96 minutes into the game, Dito Soeiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gangorrinha SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Funorte Esporte Clube the free kick. After 96 played minutes Gangorrinha SC got a freekick which was hit by Dito Soeiro. Gangorrinha SC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
