Amauri das Neves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Paulo Leme, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Luís Gustavo de Castro sped through Sagui MZ's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Amauri das Neves. In the 25th minute of the match Leonel Velasco sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Amauri das Neves skillfully saved the ball. José Paulo Leme blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Amauri das Neves having to make a save. 32 minutes into the match, Sagui MZ's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Gustavo de Castro came free, but Amauri das Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Gustavo de Castro in the 40th minute of play forced Sagui MZ's goalkeeper Amauri das Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amauri das Neves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Paulo Leme's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Corumbalina's Armandinho Teixeira suffered a concussion in the 44th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. When Raimundo Leão fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sagui MZ's protests and gave Raimundo Leão a yellow card for diving instead. Raimundo Leão hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Sagui MZ's zone, Luís Gustavo de Castro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amauri das Neves came out of the goal and Luís Gustavo de Castro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luís Gustavo de Castro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luís Gustavo de Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Amauri das Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th minute of the match, Luís Gustavo de Castro got a very nice opportunity to score, but Amauri das Neves was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Amauri das Neves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Gustavo de Castro in the 67th minute. In the 72nd minute, Luís Gustavo de Castro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Amauri das Neves was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. After a defensive mix-up in Corumbalina's zone, Narciso Soares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dalmo Vides came out of the goal and Narciso Soares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 81 minutes into the game, Sagui MZ's Narciso Soares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dalmo Vides made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. Raimundo Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Luís Gustavo de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as José Paulo Leme kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Amauri das Neves. That made the score 1-5 in the 89 minute of play. If Luís Gustavo de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Corumbalina's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
