The audience thought a goal was coming when Eduardo Guerra got free with Tales Magalhães in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tales Magalhães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio Matos in the 8th minute of play. In the 34th minute, Wilton de Souza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paraná SUL fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júlio Matos in the 38th minute of play forced Paraná SUL's goalkeeper Tales Magalhães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Júlio Matos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tales Magalhães was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. Adrianinho Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton de Souza in the 43rd minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. Paraná SUL's Tales Magalhães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Guerra in the 52nd minute of play. Júlio Matos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 54th minute, Júlio Matos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tales Magalhães was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Júlio Matos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tales Magalhães having to interfere. The supporters of Paraná SUL booed when Racing Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Antunes didn't get a good kick on the ball.
