Adrianinho Maia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fábio de Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Racing Club's zone, Luiz Fábio de Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. In the 79th minute, one of SE Jundiaí:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SE Jundiaí. When the match had been going on for 80 minutes, Racing Club's José Maria Andrade got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of João Pedro Tróia. Luiz Fábio de Queiroz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adrianinho Maia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. When the match clock showed 93 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Acácio de Moraes sped through Racing Club's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Adrianinho Maia. In the 98th minute Júlio Matos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Pedro Tróia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
