Frank Cavalcante made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind SANTOS F.C's goalkeeper Frank Cavalcante, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Robinho de Amorim charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Robinho de Amorim the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Robinho de Amorim kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudinei Toscano in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Frank Cavalcante saved SANTOS F.C from getting behind. Alexsandro Branco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. SANTOS F.C's Robinho de Amorim got his second yellow card of the match in the 24th minute. The referee ordered Robinho de Amorim off the ground. In the 25th minute, Robinho de Amorim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tales Magalhães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The long shot by Arthur Valle in the 43rd minute really tested Tales Magalhães's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudinei Toscano to make the kick off. The supporters of SANTOS F.C booed when Paraná SUL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulisses Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Didi Baiano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wilton de Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Cavalcante having to interfere. Tales Magalhães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Didi Baiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Frank Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinei Toscano in the 82nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudinei Toscano in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Frank Cavalcante saved SANTOS F.C from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Paraná SUL's zone, Belmiro Breckenfeld stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tales Magalhães came out of the goal and Belmiro Breckenfeld tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tales Magalhães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Didi Baiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ulisses Freitas's late challenge caught a SANTOS F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ulisses Freitas helped the player get up and apologised. In the 95th minute, Belmiro Breckenfeld hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paraná SUL were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over SANTOS F.C's much stronger midfield.
