He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Racing Club reached it. José Paulo Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Júlio Matos in the 6th minute of the match. Adrianinho Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mateus Perez in the 13th minute of play. 17 minutes into the game, José Augusto Zanette was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Racing Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Aventureio the free kick. When Ivo Baptista fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Racing Club's protests and gave Ivo Baptista a yellow card for diving instead. After 22 played minutes Racing Club got a freekick which was hit by Edmundo Reis. After having played for 23 minutes, Erasmo Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aventureio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erasmo Dias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eduardo Guerra kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Mateus Perez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Maia having to interfere. In the 36th minute, Dênis Aguiar made a precise shot to the right of Adrianinho Maia. Racing Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After a rather tough play, Aventureio's Durvalino Furtado got a free kick in the 38th minute. 42 minutes into the game, Racing Club's Eduardo Guerra nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. José Paulo Romero made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1.

After having played for 78 minutes, Júlio Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Racing Club eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
