Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Carlos Alberto Siqueira started the match with the kick off. Carlos Alberto Siqueira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jorginho Eger read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. In the 8th match minute, Sport Recife was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Guilherme Veloso to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edu Arruda during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Peripiri booed when Sport Recife was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edu Arruda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Antônio Tasso kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Miguel Senna got free with Jorginho Eger in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sport Recife's Jorginho Eger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Sport Recife from getting a goal against them. During the 20th minute of the match Luiz Guilherme Veloso completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Luiz Guilherme Veloso a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Peripiri booed when Sport Recife was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Guilherme Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Miguel Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Jorginho Eger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valdo das Neves came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Sport Recife's Antônio Tasso. But to his dismay, Antônio Tasso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Carlos Alberto Siqueira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jorginho Eger having to make a save. Carlos Alberto Siqueira's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 38thth minute, Jorginho Eger skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Zé Roberto de Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peripiri's supporters rose to their feet, but Zé Roberto de Sousa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorginho Eger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 41st match minute, Peripiri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Senna to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Peripiri's Carlos Alberto Siqueira fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head.

The wind increased when Antônio Tasso made the kick off in the second half. Zé Roberto de Sousa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 56 minutes Sport Recife's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Carlos Alberto Siqueira who took care of the corner kick. After 57 played minutes Peripiri got a freekick which was hit by Cássio Mendes. Jorginho Eger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Siqueira in the 60th minute of play. Peripiri were awarded a corner in the 61th minute after Sport Recife's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Carlos Alberto Siqueira took the corner. Guilherme Peixoto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Jorginho Eger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sport Recife's Edu Arruda got his second yellow card of the match in the 66th minute. The referee ordered Edu Arruda off the ground. When Miguel Senna came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Peripiri fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miguel Senna couldn't finish the play. Jorginho Eger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zé Roberto de Sousa's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. In the 73rdth minute of the game Carlos Alberto Siqueira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Recife's Jorginho Eger was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Peripiri's Miguel Senna got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Guilherme Peixoto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 80 minutes into the match, Sport Recife's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Alberto Siqueira came free, but Jorginho Eger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Zé Roberto de Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cássio Mendes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorginho Eger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Roberto de Sousa, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. When Zé Roberto de Sousa came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Peripiri fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Roberto de Sousa couldn't finish the play. In the 96th minute, Carlos Alberto Siqueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Peripiri lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
