The supporters of Sapopema SS booed when Sport Recife was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogério Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 19 played minutes, Sapopema SS's Betinho Braga shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jorginho Eger came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sapopema SS reached it. Vivaldo Braga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Jorginho Eger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 24th match minute, Sport Recife was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edu Arruda to maneuver through the defense. When Alex Amorim came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Sapopema SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alex Amorim couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Arí Vieira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sport Recife's supporters rose to their feet, but Arí Vieira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabrício Ceresso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arí Vieira succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 38th playminute. Arí Vieira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabrício Ceresso having to interfere. Vivaldo Braga charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vivaldo Braga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Arí Vieira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arí Vieira was the one to do the kick off. Sport Recife's Jorginho Eger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Sport Recife from getting a goal against them. Sport Recife's Jorginho Eger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Amorim in the 53rd minute of play. Tales Moraes hit a great ball. 56 minutes into the match, Arí Vieira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fabrício Ceresso. Sapopema SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arí Vieira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Murilo Oliveira charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Murilo Oliveira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Sport Recife getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Murilo Oliveira hit a great ball. Alex Amorim struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Jorginho Eger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sapopema SS. After 63 minutes, Tales Moraes made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Sport Recife's Jorginho Eger tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 67 minutes into the match, Sapopema SS's goal looked a bit too open when Arí Vieira came free, but Fabrício Ceresso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Cauã Baptista fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sport Recife's protests and gave Cauã Baptista a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Sport Recife getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Cauã Baptista hit a great ball. Fabrício Ceresso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arí Vieira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If André Luiz Trancoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sapopema SS had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
