An unexpectedly hard shot by Horácio Prado in the 14th minute of play forced Korokas's goalkeeper Denílson Vidal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute, Roger Paraibano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 23 minutes into the match, Zézinho Velasco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Maurício Tande. CR Vasco da Gama's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zézinho Velasco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Horácio Prado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Maurício Tande showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Flávio Cunha in the 36th minute of the match. CR Vasco da Gama's Maurício Tande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zézinho Velasco in the 38th minute of play. Flávio Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurício Tande having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in CR Vasco da Gama fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! In the 44th minute there was a penalty for Korokas. Tales Vinhas stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Maurício Tande. 0-2. In the 66th minute of the match, Flávio Cunha tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Maurício Tande saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Maurício Tande showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flávio Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruninho Ceresso couldn't finish the play. Korokas's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
