Faccio Club's Juvenal da Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joélson Goiano in the 3rd minute of play. The tension between the Faccio Club and the Ramalho players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 6 played minutes Faccio Club got a freekick which was hit by Marquinhos de Salles. Percy de Sousa might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juvenal da Rocha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Percy de Sousa ran back to his position shaking his head. When Percy de Sousa came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Ramalho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Percy de Sousa couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joélson Goiano in the 15th minute of play forced Faccio Club's goalkeeper Juvenal da Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Enéas Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When José Paulo Couto came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Faccio Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Paulo Couto couldn't finish the play. Nilton de Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Paulo Couto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 34 played minutes Ramalho got a freekick which was hit by Enéas Senna. Percy de Sousa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Juvenal da Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Basílio Toledo in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juvenal da Rocha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 43rd match minute, Faccio Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aníbal Guedes to maneuver through the defense. Juvenal da Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percy de Sousa in the 45th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Paulo Couto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Percy de Sousa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Juvenal da Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. The supporters of Ramalho booed when Faccio Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kaká de Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Genílson Luz put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Juvenal da Rocha.
