But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Galvão couldn't finish the play. Afonsinho Quadros blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Washington Custódio having to make a save. After 19 minutes of play, URANDI MZB's Osvaldo Pitta made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Washington Custódio was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, S. E. Triângulo's Edu Mineiro got a free kick in the 24th minute. Afonsinho Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Washington Custódio having to interfere. Cauã Brasil could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Washington Custódio made a huge save. In the 30th minute Cristian Galvão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renato Aristizábal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Augusto Marques kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Edu Mineiro's late challenge caught a URANDI MZB's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edu Mineiro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 34th minute, Edu Mineiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in S. E. Triângulo's zone, Cauã Brasil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Washington Custódio came out of the goal and Cauã Brasil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Washington Custódio was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Afonsinho Quadros showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 38 minute of play. Edu Mineiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristian Galvão to make the kick off. Alfredão Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In a very dangerous position, a player in S. E. Triângulo fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 57th minute. Penalty! URANDI MZB's Renato Aristizábal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save URANDI MZB from getting a goal against them. 64 minutes into the match, URANDI MZB's goalkeeper Renato Aristizábal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfredão Lopes. Renato Aristizábal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Galvão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute Afonsinho Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Washington Custódio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Afonsinho Quadros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfredão Lopes got free with Renato Aristizábal in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Washington Custódio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cauã Brasil in the 94th minute of play. If Afonsinho Quadros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
