A hard shot by Fábio Rocha from long distance, 16 minutes into the match, got Nildo Fernandes's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The long shot by Fábio Rocha in the 20th minute really tested Nildo Fernandes's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Allan de Godoi hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. But to his dismay, Percy de Sousa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Nildo Fernandes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joélson Goiano in the 27th minute of the match. Nildo Fernandes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Percy de Sousa in the 37th minute. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind BAHIA's goalkeeper Nildo Fernandes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, BAHIA's Nildo Fernandes got control of the ball when Percy de Sousa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Joélson Goiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 44 minutes, Clóvis Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. BAHIA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Clóvis Simões was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joélson Goiano made a kick off. 54 minutes into the match, BAHIA's goal looked a bit too open when Percy de Sousa came free, but Nildo Fernandes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 57 minutes into the game, Ramalho's Percy de Sousa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nildo Fernandes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. When Percy de Sousa came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Ramalho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Percy de Sousa couldn't finish the play. Nildo Fernandes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enéas Senna in the 69th minute of the match. If Allan de Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nildo Fernandes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Percy de Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
