Spectators: 7254 (Terracing: 5442, Seating: 1668, VIP seats: 144) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Alexsandro Peres took the kick off in the first half of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Goitacazes's zone, Aníbal Brodel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Luiz de Sousa came out of the goal and Aníbal Brodel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Goitacazes getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Alexandre Trevisan hit a great ball. If Eliézer Ramalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Goitacazes's Reinaldo Nascimento got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Goitacazes's Maurício do Nascimento got a free kick in the 18th minute. Teodoro Penha kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. A collision led to Goitacazes getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Alexandre Trevisan hit a great ball. Magne Vase showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reinaldo Nascimento in the 26th minute of the match. Aníbal Brodel took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pedro Luiz de Sousa. Pedro Luiz de Sousa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Alexsandro Peres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Magne Vase having to interfere. If Reinaldo Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexsandro Peres in the 40th minute of play forced São Thiago Matamouros's goalkeeper Magne Vase to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. São Thiago Matamouros's Magne Vase played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexsandro Peres in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aníbal Brodel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, São Thiago Matamouros's goal looked a bit too open when Alexsandro Peres came free, but Magne Vase reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Goitacazes booed when São Thiago Matamouros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodoro Penha didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Alexsandro Peres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Magne Vase showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexsandro Peres in the 59th minute of the match. Pedro Luiz de Sousa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aníbal Brodel's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giovani Paranaense in the 62nd minute of play forced Goitacazes's goalkeeper Pedro Luiz de Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. São Thiago Matamouros's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Alexsandro Peres 64 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. After some careless play in the Goitacazes defense, Jardel Schmidt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedro Luiz de Sousa. The Goitacazes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedro Luiz de Sousa should have stopped the shot. Magne Vase made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliézer Ramalho in the 72nd minute of play. São Thiago Matamouros's Magne Vase played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexsandro Peres in the 80th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, São Thiago Matamouros's goalkeeper Magne Vase had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Reinaldo Nascimento. In the 82nd match minute, São Thiago Matamouros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yuri Carneiro to maneuver through the defense. Reinaldo Nascimento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With his leg Magne Vase managed to avoid a goal in the 90thth minute, when Goitacazes's Reinaldo Nascimento fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 91 minutes, Eliézer Ramalho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Goitacazes and the São Thiago Matamouros players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 91st match minute, Goitacazes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliézer Ramalho to maneuver through the defense. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
