Vitório Alvarenga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Robinho Rosa in the 19th minute. FC Leões's Vitório Alvarenga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilmar Costa in the 22nd minute of play. If Nilmar Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 36 played minutes FC Leões got a freekick which was hit by Jorginho Perez. Ronaldão Novaes hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Robinho Rosa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Vitório Alvarenga. That made the score 2-0 in the 41 minute of play. Nilmar Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Vitório Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nilmar Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nilmar Costa made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Nilmar Costa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vitório Alvarenga was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. There was no doubt that Carobas were the better team. Carobas's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
