In the 24th match minute, Legionários FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Barral to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Gonçalense F.C's zone, Celso Alcântara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aílton Almeida came out of the goal and Celso Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Legionários FC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Nilton Reis hit a great ball. Cléber Barral stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eusébio Tande's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Celso Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Celso Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aílton Almeida having to interfere. Cléber Barral came out of the goal and Eusébio Tande tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilvan Furlan kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hernani do Vale was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Laércio Alvarenga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cléber Barral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eusébio Tande in the 52nd minute of the match.
