Spectators: 7215 (Terracing: 5412, Seating: 1660, VIP seats: 143) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Anísio Barral made the kick off which started today's match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian Pirani in the 3rd minute of play forced Horizonte's goalkeeper Aníbal Gomes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anísio Barral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amadeu Lago having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Horizonte's zone, Naldo Recife stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aníbal Gomes came out of the goal and Naldo Recife tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 10th minute, Anísio Barral ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Amadeu Lago was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 15 minutes, Flavinho do Vale made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Pichuri's Amadeu Lago tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Anísio Barral in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Amadeu Lago prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In a very dangerous position, a player in Pichuri fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 21st minute. Penalty! After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Naldo Recife managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pichuri's supporters rose to their feet, but Naldo Recife was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aníbal Gomes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Anísio Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Flavinho do Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 33rd match minute, Horizonte was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romeu Carioca to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 45 minutes, Flavinho do Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Horizonte's supporters crossed their fingers, but Flavinho do Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 46th match minute, Pichuri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filipe Reis to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Naldo Recife was the one to do the kick off. Alexsandro Linhares charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alexsandro Linhares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A hard shot by Tomé Alagoano from long distance, 64 minutes into the match, got Amadeu Lago's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Anísio Barral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 70th minute, Flavinho do Vale fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Amadeu Lago, passed just outside the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anísio Barral in the 72nd minute of play forced Pichuri's goalkeeper Amadeu Lago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anísio Barral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Albertinho Novaes's late challenge caught a Horizonte's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Albertinho Novaes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 79th minute, one of Pichuri:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pichuri. The goalkeeper, Amadeu Lago, was totally fooled by Horizonte's Tomé Alagoano, who 81 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Flavinho do Vale recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Amadeu Lago was a little too slow when Anísio Barral got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 89th minute. The score was now 0-6. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bebeto Figueiredo in the 94th minute of play forced Pichuri's goalkeeper Amadeu Lago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anísio Barral's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Amadeu Lago read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. Horizonte's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
