Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mário Mello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristiano de Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. If João Pedro de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. João Pedro de Azevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Coqueiros's Sérgio Tande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Pedro de Azevedo in the 43rd minute of play. Sérgio Tande showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Paulista, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. 46 minutes into the game, Caldeiroes's Augusto Baiano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sérgio Tande made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-6. Disappointed in the 1-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

João Pedro de Azevedo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 56thth minute tested the skills of Sérgio Tande when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 61 played minutes Fabrício Abraão rounded Coqueiros's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-7. Cipriano Tinoco hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. If Augusto Baiano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Pedro de Azevedo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sérgio Tande having to make a save. 75 minutes into the match, Caldeiroes's goal looked a bit too open when Júlio Xavier came free, but Mário Mello reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 77 minutes into the game, João Pedro de Azevedo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sérgio Tande. João Pedro de Azevedo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-8. Sérgio Tande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Pedro de Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hortêncio Toledo during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
