In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind América-RS's goalkeeper Otávio Queiroz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Renatinho Queiroz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luizão do Valle in the 28th minute of the match. Júlio Romero might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Renatinho Queiroz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Júlio Romero ran back to his position shaking his head. Bernardinho Breckenfeld kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After having played for 38 minutes, Júlio Romero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
