The supporters of Guzolandia AD booed when Croa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vladimir Sanches didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Fernando Gaúcho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 10th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Zé Pedro Proença. Croa's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 10 minutes into the game, Vladimir Sanches was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Croa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guzolandia AD the free kick. After 11 played minutes Croa got a freekick which was hit by Vladimir Sanches. José Vítor Pinheiro charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Vítor Pinheiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Croa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dé Moreno was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Hortêncio Gomes's late challenge caught a Guzolandia AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hortêncio Gomes helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Croa's Hortêncio Gomes got a free kick in the 21st minute. After having played for 24 minutes, Jonathan Peres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guzolandia AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonathan Peres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jonathan Peres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hortêncio Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidney Duarte having to interfere. When Hortêncio Gomes came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Croa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hortêncio Gomes couldn't finish the play. In the 36th minute of the match, Hortêncio Gomes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sidney Duarte was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Sidney Duarte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hortêncio Gomes in the 39th minute. Dida de Queiroz struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Sidney Duarte didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Croa. When Joaquim Moraes fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guzolandia AD's protests and gave Joaquim Moraes a yellow card for diving instead. After 44 played minutes Guzolandia AD got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Moraes.

Sidney Duarte made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Sidney Duarte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hortêncio Gomes's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. Zé Pedro Proença showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonathan Peres, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. After having played for 84 minutes, Dé Moreno managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guzolandia AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dé Moreno was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 90 minutes, João Adolfo Coutinho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Croa and the Guzolandia AD players grew even worse after the yellow card.
