The shot was stopped by Otávio Queiroz but with some difficulty. Benê de Senna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Paulinho Toscano came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Invasion Team fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulinho Toscano couldn't finish the play. In the 11th minute, André Luís Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th match minute, Invasion Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isidro Argider to maneuver through the defense. If Júlio Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Invasion Team's Benê de Senna got a free kick in the 18th minute. Benê de Senna scored 1-0 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Otávio Queiroz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 24th minute Luizão do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Borys Knopek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th match minute, América-RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Luís Montenegro to maneuver through the defense. Paulinho Toscano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Otávio Queiroz having to make a save. América-RS's Otávio Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulinho Toscano in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Benê de Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Otávio Queiroz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulinho Toscano's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Benê de Senna dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Otávio Queiroz, 2-0. América-RS's Otávio Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulinho Toscano in the 45th minute of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulinho Toscano to strike the kick off in the second half. Wilson Neiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Otávio Queiroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benê de Senna, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. In the 63rd minute, Cacá Sergipano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 64th minute of the match Geraldo Chaves shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Otávio Queiroz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Luizão do Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of América-RS booed when Invasion Team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. John Rambo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Paulinho Toscano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Invasion Team's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulinho Toscano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Otávio Queiroz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Otávio Queiroz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulinho Toscano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, Júlio Romero made a precise shot to the right of Borys Knopek. Invasion Team's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Invasion Team's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
