An unexpectedly hard shot by Dida de Queiroz in the 8th minute of play forced União Agrícola Barbarense's goalkeeper Flavinho da Costa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 13 minutes into the match, União Agrícola Barbarense's goalkeeper Flavinho da Costa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dida de Queiroz. Dida de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavinho da Costa having to interfere. Flavinho da Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dida de Queiroz in the 19th minute of play. Flavinho da Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dida de Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Rubens Rossi charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rubens Rossi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Rubens Rossi kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. União Agrícola Barbarense were awarded a corner in the 26th minute after Croa's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ricardinho Mesquita took the corner. Hortêncio Gomes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. José Paulo de Medeiros charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Paulo de Medeiros the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of União Agrícola Barbarense booed when Croa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Paulo de Medeiros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dida de Queiroz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 46 minutes into the game, União Agrícola Barbarense's Cacá Godoi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zé Pedro Proença made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in União Agrícola Barbarense's zone, Hortêncio Gomes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavinho da Costa came out of the goal and Hortêncio Gomes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hortêncio Gomes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Flavinho da Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hortêncio Gomes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the match, União Agrícola Barbarense's goal looked a bit too open when Dida de Queiroz came free, but Flavinho da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 62nd minute Dida de Queiroz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavinho da Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dida de Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 66 minutes into the game, Rony Meireles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. União Agrícola Barbarense's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Croa the free kick. Flavinho da Costa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hortêncio Gomes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Flavinho da Costa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. Dida de Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 96 minutes into the match, União Agrícola Barbarense's goal looked a bit too open when Hortêncio Gomes came free, but Flavinho da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Croa players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
